Best Bakeries and Coffee Shops in North Vancouver

Bisou Bake House

Location: 1189 16th St W, North Vancouver, BC. V7P 1R4.

Hours: Open 7 days a week from 9am until 5pm

Bisou, pronounced, “bee-zoo” comes from the French word for “kiss” (which is exactly what the person will want to do once you introduce them to this place) This place has such a wide variety of options including freshly baked bread, croissants, cakes, tarts, cinnamon rolls, and everything in between. One of my personal favourites here is the affogato – a scoop of gelato/ice cream and a shot of hot espresso.

Thomas Haas Fine Chocolates & Patisserie

Location: 998 Harbourside Dr, North Vancouver, BC. V7P 3T2.

Hours: Open Tuesday – Saturday from 8am until 5:30pm.

This is a small location but packs a punch with all they have to offer. Between coffee, cakes, chocolates, and pastries Thomas Haas will leave you wanting to try one of everything. Their store front/seating area is quite small as the majority of their building is taken up by the back kitchen to curate all the delicious chocolates you see upfront. Looking for the perfect gift idea for someone in your life with a sweet tooth? I highly recommend anything from their “Blak” collection of desserts. My personal favourite is the “Blak Upside Down Chocolate Soufflé”

If you’re like me and have trouble deciding what to get, check out their website to see all they have to offer. They also offer online pastry classes that are 100% worth checking out!

HINT: at the window pane glass wall (at the end where you pickup your drink order) you will notice a couple red panes of glass with markings on it. Press the circles and check for chocolates. Behind that wall is where the bakers & chocolatiers are working their magic! Sometimes they put some treats in those panels for customers to try. *

Hours: Open 7 days a week from 6am until 5pm.

This local business has been around since 1996 and is very well known! People from all over make the trip to Deep Cove just to try this place, and I don’t blame them! Did you know they serve more than just coffee and donuts? They also serve protein-packed breakfast and lunch, which is perfect after a day paddling on the water.

NOMAD Coffee & Bakery

Location: 1415 Bewicke Ave, North Vancouver, BC. V7M 3B8.

Hours: Open 7 days a week from 8am until 5pm.

This place has my whole heart. Enjoy your coffee while being surrounded by plants, and I don’t mean just a few windowsill plants I mean tropical surroundings covering the entire place. What’s better than enjoying a great cup of coffee while being surrounded by plants? Well….. it’s being able to buy them! Nomad sells the plants they have on display, so if you like what you see just inquire with the staff and they will sort you out.

Please note that Nomad is North Vancouver’s first no-single-use cup coffee shop that is focused on reusing, recycling and rethinking. This coffee shop is BYOC (bring your own cup) if you are planning to take your coffee to go.

You cannot beat the atmosphere and good vibes in this North Vancouver coffee shop.
