Looking for the perfect sweet spot? Whether you are looking for savoury bread, a delicious pastry, a strong coffee, or all of the above I have curated a list of my favourite bakeries & coffee shops in North Vancouver for you to check out! These bakeries are perfect to stop in for breakfast, lunch or even if you are looking for something to do after work while you are in North Vancouver!
Best Bakeries and Coffee Shops in North Vancouver
Bisou Bake House
Location: 1189 16th St W, North Vancouver, BC. V7P 1R4.
Hours: Open 7 days a week from 9am until 5pm
Bisou, pronounced, “bee-zoo” comes from the French word for “kiss” (which is exactly what the person will want to do once you introduce them to this place) This place has such a wide variety of options including freshly baked bread, croissants, cakes, tarts, cinnamon rolls, and everything in between. One of my personal favourites here is the affogato – a scoop of gelato/ice cream and a shot of hot espresso.
Thomas Haas Fine Chocolates & Patisserie
Location: 998 Harbourside Dr, North Vancouver, BC. V7P 3T2.
Hours: Open Tuesday – Saturday from 8am until 5:30pm.
This is a small location but packs a punch with all they have to offer. Between coffee, cakes, chocolates, and pastries Thomas Haas will leave you wanting to try one of everything. Their store front/seating area is quite small as the majority of their building is taken up by the back kitchen to curate all the delicious chocolates you see upfront. Looking for the perfect gift idea for someone in your life with a sweet tooth? I highly recommend anything from their “Blak” collection of desserts. My personal favourite is the “Blak Upside Down Chocolate Soufflé”
If you’re like me and have trouble deciding what to get, check out their website to see all they have to offer. They also offer online pastry classes that are 100% worth checking out!
HINT: at the window pane glass wall (at the end where you pickup your drink order) you will notice a couple red panes of glass with markings on it. Press the circles and check for chocolates. Behind that wall is where the bakers & chocolatiers are working their magic! Sometimes they put some treats in those panels for customers to try. *
Honey Doughnuts & Goodies
Location: 4373 Gallant Ave, North Vancouver, BC. V7G 1L1.
Hours: Open 7 days a week from 6am until 5pm.
This local business has been around since 1996 and is very well known! People from all over make the trip to Deep Cove just to try this place, and I don’t blame them! Did you know they serve more than just coffee and donuts? They also serve protein-packed breakfast and lunch, which is perfect after a day paddling on the water.
Location: 111 1st St E, North Vancouver, BC. V7L 2B1. (Around back in Lolo Lane)
Hours: Wednesday 10am-7pm
Handmade donuts and southern fried chicken…. need I say more?
This place has such a fun atmosphere with the friendliest staff. They even offer a “Shipyards Picnic Pack” which is perfect for summer nights sitting down by the water. Check out their social media to stay up to date on any new donut flavours!
NOMAD Coffee & Bakery
Location: 1415 Bewicke Ave, North Vancouver, BC. V7M 3B8.
Hours: Open 7 days a week from 8am until 5pm.
This place has my whole heart. Enjoy your coffee while being surrounded by plants, and I don’t mean just a few windowsill plants I mean tropical surroundings covering the entire place. What’s better than enjoying a great cup of coffee while being surrounded by plants? Well….. it’s being able to buy them! Nomad sells the plants they have on display, so if you like what you see just inquire with the staff and they will sort you out.
Please note that Nomad is North Vancouver’s first no-single-use cup coffee shop that is focused on reusing, recycling and rethinking. This coffee shop is BYOC (bring your own cup) if you are planning to take your coffee to go.
You cannot beat the atmosphere and good vibes in this North Vancouver coffee shop.
49th Parallel Café & Lucky’s Doughnuts Lonsdale
Location: 93 Lonsdale Ave, North Vancouver, BC. V7M 2E5.
Hours: Sunday 7am-6pm
This place will have you feeling like you’re in a hallmark movie with its incredible location and layout. Their offerings reflect the seasonality of coffee. They even have an in-house coffee buyer that travels directly to farms to evaluate and select coffees. Looking to try some of the best coffee in town? Look no further.
Nemesis Coffee Polygon
Location: 101 Carrie Cates Ct #110, North Vancouver, BC. V7M 3J4.
Hours: Sunday 9am-5pm
Their beautiful interior and open concept kitchen will draw you into this place regardless what they have to offer. Serving incredible coffee and baked goods is a bonus on top of the atmosphere they’ve created as this location is just steps away from the waterfront. If you haven’t tried a cruffin yet, now is your chance!
Lift Breakfast Bakery
Location: 101 Lonsdale Ave, North Vancouver, BC. V7M 2E6.
Hours: Sunday 8:30am-4pm
This cozy cafe is a breakfast bistro and bakery located in lower Lonsdale. They offer all-day breakfast and brunch dishes as well as handmade pastries, bread and coffee!
Location: 102-3053 Edgemont Boulevard, North Vancouver, BC. V7R 2N5.
Hours: Open Monday to Sunday 8am-5pm
This bakery features 30+ flavours of bars to choose from; breakfast, lunch and drink offerings. They also have take home gifting items available. Everything here is fresh and made in house. Be sure to check out their “party box” offerings – great for all occasions!
Bad Dog Bread
Location: 1600 Mackay Rd, North Vancouver, BC V7P 2M4.
Hours: Sunday 9am-3pm
This local gem is best known for it’s amazing fresh bread and cinnamon buns. You will also likely see their products at most local markets. If you haven’t tried their delicious bakings yet, be sure to do so!
